Join me on an exciting culinary journey through Puerto Mogan, where we'll explore one of its 71 restaurants each week. This is week two, visiting the Chinese Restaurant:

Gran Shang Hai.

1. Introduction:

In a locale of the avenue from the hotels as Cordial Mogan Playa and down to the beach of Puerto Mogan, Gran Shanghai stands out not only for its Chinese culinary offerings but also for its value. I have passed by many times and wondering why it is always so busy. Located at Ctra Vieja 4b, Edificio Mina, and welcoming guests every day from 12:30 to 23:00. This restaurant promises a dining experience that combines great taste, affordability, and warm hospitality. My recent visit to Gran Shanghai, along with four other adults, revealed a treasure of taste full Asian food , impeccable service, and surprisingly pleasant pricing, prompting the question: Is this Puerto de Mogan’s best value for money?

Under my visit and conversations cross the tables it was made clear that Gran Shanghai has become a must-visit for both locals and tourists alike. Situated conveniently on the walkway to the beach, it's a stone's throw (if you throw long) from popular accommodations like The Cordial and The Radisson, making it an easy choice for those looking for Chinese cuisine. 3. Taste and presentation

Gran Shanghai's menu really shows a respect for traditional Chinese cooking and and understand for what their guests prefers. Each dish is presented nicely although it do gives a feeling of being busy and lacking attentions to details you can see in other Chineses restaurants. The orange duck and prawn dishes were especially good, with a great mix of flavors and textures that made the meal enjoyable.

I liked that you could choose starters as your main meal, which is great for people who like to eat different courses and taste more than one dish. It was also nice that all the food came at the same time and was served piping hot.

I tried the Peking Duck with pancake, which is usually a starter and costs €14.98. It's good enough for a group of four to six because it comes with about six pancakes. The hoisin sauce was thick and tasty, and it went really well with the light, eggy pancakes. I would have liked the duck to be a bit crispier, but it still tasted good. The fresh cucumber and leek added a nice crunch. I would definitely suggest trying this dish, and I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

4.Service

The service at Gran Shanghai contributes significantly to its charm. The staff is not only welcoming but also efficient, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience is seamless and enjoyable. The accent on service excellence is noticeable, with the team going above and beyond to accommodate requests and share recommendations, making every guest feel valued. Booking a table is essentials as they are so busy and to avoid disappointment. Its also a nice touched that the free drink as Honey Rum (Ron de Miel) or similar is offered at the end of the meal.

5. Atmosphere:

The ambiance at Gran Shanghai is inviting and authentic, with comfortable chairs and tables enhancing the dining experience. The restaurant is a family-run establishment adds a warm, personal feel, making it a cozy spot for enjoying a meal. There are elements of red in the decor - as in the Chinese traditions is symbol of good luck. I would recommend a outdoor seating (blankets are in each chair) as it can come across that it is narrow between tables inside. Toilets are clean and inviting too.

6. Price Range:

Gran Shanghai stands out for its excellent value, with affordable options that do not compromise on quality. The pricing strategy, including the cost-effective children’s meals and the overall affordability of the menu, positions Gran Shanghai as a top choice for diners seeking value.

7. Unique Features:

The unique appeal of Gran Shanghai lies in its consistent draw, evidenced by the bustling scene observed by passersby each night. The restaurant's popularity, driven by its reputation on review platforms and word of mouth, underscores the quality of its offerings and the dining experience it provides.
